His youthful boyish look, charisma ensured a sweet place in every red fans. Best’s 11 years at Manutd soccer club fetched 138 goals in spite of long injuries towards his final years and here and there rejuvenation medic periods.

DLK: “I have to set the scene a bit… during the morning every newspaper and pundit was saying United should get shut of George Best and that he would never regain his old form after sitting out a six-week suspension. You will love to read them, I bet. George best is known for his stylish remarks during many interviews. Some of his famous quotes,
Remark about his stylish play: “I set off. I beat one player, then another. By the end I had beaten five of them in the space of ten yards. I didn’t know how I did it and still don’t … When I see it on television, it still dazzles me.”
Youthful Look: “If I’d been born ugly, you’d never have heard of Pele.”
European Final game: “I used to dream about taking the ball round the keeper, stopping it on the line and then getting on my hands and knees and heading it into the net. When I scored against Benfica in the 1968 European Cup final I nearly did it. I left the keeper for dead but then I chickened out. I might have given the boss a heart attack!”
Popularity: “I was probably the first footballer ever to have a pop star profile and my agent was right when he said we could put my name on stair rods and sell them to people in bungalows. It got so bad that I was afraid to go near the windows and I couldn’t get away without a police escort. It was like being a prisoner.”
Funny words about Birds (women): “I used to go missing a lot: Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World.”
Alcohol: “I’ve stopped drinking, but only while I’m asleep”
Retirement: “My one big regret is that I didn’t play on for ten more years.”
